Farrier Records
At Sand Creek Stables, horses are shod every 8 weeks. If the need arises and we feel like a horse needs it, they will
be reset or have new shoes put on, we will call in the farrier every 6 weeks. As a rule of thumb, we use the following
guidelines when shoeing our herd:
Horses Under 2 Years of Age: No shoes at all, but trimmed every 8 weeks to get used to farrier care from weaning to 2 years
Horses in Competition Over 2 Years of Age: Front and rear shoes with new shoes every other time unless need arises.
Non-Competition Horses or Senior Horses: If not left barefoot (horses who are not being ridden) horses will have front shoes only
As for our padded Tennessee Walking Horses, the trainers may do some tweaking between farrier appointments.
We proudly use Precision Shoes and Feleisha as our regular farrier
